Festivus II

CFLI sent a bad-ass crew up to CF Relentless in CT for the second annual "Festivus" competition. Of course we didn't leave empty handed, as the crew walked away with some serious hardware. Marty "Beast Bar" Accardi took 3rd place in the Men's Novice division, while Kelley LoRusso took 3rd in the Women's Intermediate and Taylor Kelley took home the shiny Gold in the same division. Great work by all!

Run for the Sun 5k

Congratulations to Liz Ciancerelli for dominating the 50 to 59 category by nearly a full minute on her way to a Gold Medal at the "Run for the Sun" 5k road race in Patchogue!

Smith Point 5k

Ann Kazaks wins the 50-54 age group at the Smith Point 5k in September! Congrats Ann!

Double Gold II

August 2011

CFLI Owner and Head Coach Brian Costello was able to repeat the double Gold from last year with another 1st place finish in both the 4x100m Relay and Beach Flags. He has his sights set on the 2012 World Championships in Australia next November. We'll have to wait and see...

Ian & Chris National Runners-Up

August 2011

So if 4th place is a great Nationals debut, how about a 2nd Place the following year? Ian and Chris proved that last year was no fluke, tearing through a tough field and taking Silver Medal, just a step behind the first place team. The National Championship teams from the last 4 years combined were in the field as well, but Ian and Chris were able to beat them all. Great work boys!

2011 Reebok CrossFit Games - Northeast Regionals

May 2011

The 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games was something to remember. To start off, CFLI had 4 individuals qualify for the Regional Finals, one of the highest out of all affiliates in the Northeast. There were 1200 men to start, and only 60 qualified for Regionals. Three of those 60 were Devin, Larry, and Brian. Out of the 800 females, only 60 moved on as well, one of those being Brianne.

The Regional finals was a long grueling weekend consisting of 6 workouts. In the end, Devin and Larry each placed in the top 25, while Brian and Brianne advanced to the final day of competition, with the top 14 from each division. CrossFit Long Island was the only affiliate in the Northeast to have a male and a female advance to the final day of competition. Brian finished in 13th overall and Brianne finished in 9th place. A very impressive showing by all!

Tough Mudder

May 2011

Nicole Lo Meli tears through Mt Snow alongside CFLI Coach Pat Scribner in the 2011 Tough Mudder Mt Snow. This GRUELING 10 mile mountain race was long and tretcherous, but the pair made it through. They each qualified for "The World's Toughest Mudder" in Texas, and Nicole's time was the FASTEST OVERALL FEMALE for the weekend, in which over 15,000 people ran. Unreal!! Great work guys!

Another Gold for the Young Guns

February 2011

CFLI Kid star Ryan Burgbacher wins the Suffolk County Championships for Intermediates in the 75lb weight class. Although small in stature, this is no small accomplishment as powerhouse Suffolk County is stacked with highly competitive wrestlers of all ages. Great job Ryan!

All-County

February 2011

The League 2 champ is back at it, this time placing 4th in Section XI (Suffolk County) Division 1. The feat of earning All County honors in Section XI is amazing in and of itself, but to do it as a 9th grader is unbelievable. Great Job Sean!

League Champ

February 2011

CFLI young-gun Sean O'Hagan wins the League 2 Wrestling Championships as 9th grader! Sean is the starting 103 pounder for Sachem North and an already highly decorated Varsity Wrestler.

Built Ford Tough

January 2011

The Ford bro's are at it again. This time back up to Connecticut for another Hybrid Strongman Challenge. This time the boys were in a partner challenge, but this caused no problems. In fact, Larry and his parter took 1st place overall and Devin and his partner were right behind in 3rd! Once again, way to represent boys!

Off-The-Grid

November 2010

The dynamic duo of Larry and Devin Ford are at it again, this time traveling to South Jersey for the CF Off-the-Grid challenge. The Ford (tough) brothers came in guns-blazin' and both finished in the top 5 with Devin in 5th and Larry in 3rd. Yeah boys!

Mid-Atlantic Hopper

November 2010

CFLI rallied up the troops and sent a solid group of competitors down to the Mid-Atlantic Hopper Challenge in Maryland. The Hopper Challenge is a great event in which the director literally picks the movements and skills out of a hat just minutes before the workout starts. With a strong field of over 100 competitors, CFLI brought their "A-Game" as usual, with Larry and Brianne both placing 9th overall, Brian placing 18th, and Devin taking 23rd. Well done all around!

World Team Brie

October 2010

CFLI Coach Brianne is at it again, this time in Egypt. Brianne was once again selected to represent the United States as 1 of 6 women on Team USA. This time it was for the ILS World Lifesaving Championships in Egypt. Brianne had an action packed weekend, and was able to take home a Bronze medal in the Rescue Race. She also took 15th in the 100m Beach Sprint, anchored the 4x100m relay team to a top 10 finish, and was one flag short of making World Finals in Beach Flags. Great job Brie you make the US and CFLI proud!

A True Warrior

September 2010

CFLI Coach Pat "Scribs" Scribner rips through Windham Mt in this weekend's Warrior Dash, taking 1st place in his very tough and very populated age group (20-25). Pat also finished in 7th overall out of 5,000+ runners. Yes, you read that right, 7th out of 5,000. Not too shabby!

CFLI vs The World

September 2010

CFLI Coaches Brian and Brianne were recently selected to represent the United States at the Sanyo Bussan International Lifesaving Cup in Okinawa, Japan. Brianne was 1 of 6 woman and Brian was 1 of 6 men in the country chosen to be on Team USA. As you can imagine, the comeptition on the international stage was of the highest caliber, but both Brian and Brianne were able to bring home some hardware, with 2 trips to the podium each. Brian grabbed a silver medal in the Individual 100m Beach Sprint, and anchored his team to a Gold medal in the 4x100m Beach Relay. Brian missed the podium by 1 place after taking 4th in Beach Flags. Brianne also anchored her 4x100m Relay team to a 3rd place finish, and was able to bring home a Gold as well as a part of the Women's Rescue Race.

U-S-A! U-S-A!

Strongman / Woman

August 2010

CFLI Coaches Brian and Brianne took a drive up to CT this weekend for their first crack at a CrossFit / Strongman Competition. The competition was the Hybrid Athletics Northeast Strongman Challenge. The two faired well, each finishing 3rd place in their division with dozens of very strong (literally) competitors from all over the Northeast. The event inlcuded very challenging tasks including 400+ famers walk for men, and 250+ for women, as well as shouldering Atlas Stones above bodyweight!

Double Gold!

August 2010

CFLI Owner and Head Coach, Brian Costello makes the trip to California worth the hassel and claims a National Championship in 2 events, the 4x100m Beach Sprint Relay, and Beach Flags. In the 4x100m Relay, this was his teams 2nd straight National title, but for Beach Flags, this was his first.

Top 5 Female…

August 2010

CFLI Coach Brianne Jackolski makes it the the top 5 females in the United States in Huntington Beach, CA. After a few years of consistent top 10, this is Brianne's highest finish to date.

Chris and Ian - National Debut

August 2010

Also in Huntington Beach, CA, coaches Chris Costelloe and Ian Fogarty literally "pull" there way to elite status as they place 4th in the Nation in their nationals debut, edging out stellar teams from across the country, inlcuding former National Champion squads. This unbelievable performance had everyone talking. Chris and Ian have proved they are here to compete...

Top 10 Pat strikes again

August 2010

CFLI Coach Pat Scribner lets his legs do the talking once again. Pat places 10th in the Nation out in Huntingtion Beach, CA for the USLA Lifeguard National Championships. This was Pat's second top 10 finish in this event in his career, helping tally up points for the Smith Point Ocean Rescue Team.

Karbo’s Triumphant Return

June 2010

Mike "Karbo" Karbowiak makes his return to the mat in his first competitive tournament since college. Relying on only his CF training, Karbo was able to outlast his opponents and qualify for the Empire State Games, taking 2nd Place on Long Island.

Another All American!

May 2010

CFLI Member Maria Costello is added to the CFLI All-American list as she earns her spot as one of the top runners in the country while competing for the Suffolk County Community College Cross Country team. Not only does Maria run like hell, she likes to break a mental sweat from time to time as well. Because of this she also earned the SUNY Chancellor Scholar Athlete Award for SCCC. Great work Maria!

First Team All American

May 2010

CFLI Coach Brianne Jackolski is named NCAA Div II First Team All-American after leading CW Post to the National Championship game where she scored 5 out of the teams 7 goals. The senior captain caps her 4 year career with Post with this honor.

Larry makes a name…

May 2010

Larry Ford, the sole qualifying athlete for CFLI, represents big time by placing 13th in the 2010 CrossFit Games Northeast Regionals. Over 400 men began the competition and after a brutal "Sectional" competition, Larry advanced to the stacked "Regional" competition. He proved is spot amongst the best with strong performances in every workout, including the final WOD, "The Albany Crippler" which took place is nearly 100 degree heat. Congrats Larry!
