What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a fitness revolution that challenges the ideas of conventional fitness programs and is rapidly re-defining everything we know about being “fit”. In short, CrossFit specializes in not specializing. We aim to achieve a broad, generalized fitness in which we obtain a sufficient work capacity across all ten fitness domains (cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy). We do this through constantly varied, functional movements, performed at high intensity. Routine is the enemy.

CrossFit has been used to train Olympic athletes, professional athletes, senior citizens, children, individuals with both physical and mental handicaps, and everyone in between. The program is infinitely scaleable and can easily be adjusted to meet the needs of any individual.

So whether you’re training for an elite level competition, or have been sitting on the couch for the last ten years, CrossFit is exactly the program you are looking for.

Getting started is simple, you’ve already taken the first step. CrossFit is infinitely scaleable and can be individualized to help meet the needs of anyone. Whatever your current level of fitness is, whether a NCAA athlete or a couch potato, you’re ready for us and we’re ready for you.

If you are interested in getting started, call us to register for your CrossFit 101 introductory course. CrossFit 101 is a class designed to take an interested candidate with no CF experience and educate them on the principles and foundations of CrossFit, optimal health, and general fitness. This 1-week course is instruction intensive and focuses not only on the beginning stages of CrossFit movements and skills, but explains the philosophies of CrossFit and the details of the award-winning CrossFit Long Island program.

The new and improved 3-session introduction provides ample time for us not only teach you about what we do, but to truly learn and understand you and your goals. The full week of training will help you understand the physical challenge of the CFLI program, as well as learn and understand first hand the importance of scaling and individualizing the workouts to fit your individual abilities.

In this class you will get to experience 3 CrossFit lessons and workouts coached closely by our professional coaching staff. By the end of the week you will have a greater understanding of how the CrossFit Long Island program can be incorporated into your life, and how well you will fit into our community. A full week of training will help you know exactly which one of our Training Programs is right for you.

The class will meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30pm to 9:30pm for one week. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions about our training, discussion about your goals, and of course time for US to understand YOU so we can maximize your time here and help you get where you've always wanted to be.

To register for the program or to learn more details about anything related to CrossFit Long Island, call our office at 631.909.4849 to chat with a coach.

After CrossFit 101, you will be able to jump right into our Group training sessions, no “On-Ramp” class, no “Elements” classes. You will be placed in a group of equal ability members and get started right away. Yes, these will be appropriate for you’re current level of fitness, but challenging nonetheless.
