Don't Slack.... Track!

Event Date: October 20, 2014

So how do we track?  Well, back in my day we took out a notebook and pencil and wrote down everything.  But this seemed a little primitive, so a few years back we designed custom log books for all of our members, handmade individually by our own coaches.  Each one made from the heart with a personal touch to pass along to a future Success Story.

After many long days binding journals, long nights sleeping next to the copy machine, several swimming pool's worth of printer ink, and too many paper cuts to count, we've noticed something; 90% of those journals are in the garbage.

This hurts my feelings :-(  but I will prevail!

Anyway, although we know hand-written tracking is best, we understand that the intensive labor and back breaking work required to take out a pencil and hand write daily results is far too severe and just unfair to expect.

We also heard about these new gadgets a lot of people have now.  Apparently, people are carrying around these small devices in their pockets at all times that control their life and imprison them in a world of inescapable information overload, distracting them from any human social interaction and permanently enslaving themselves to fear mongering and media brainwashing as the world around them slowly crumbles to the ground.  They're awesome!

So we've decided to jump on the bandwagon for this exciting revolution called "smart phones" and design a system that allows you to use one of these devices to track your progress in the gym.

Two birds - one stone.  Boom.

Starting today, we will be taking a dry run at a digital logging system on your Zenplanner Profile.  Now when you load the app to log in for class, you will also see an option for WOD tracking.  You can track all of your results here, and you will also be able to see daily results from other members of the community as well to see how you stack up.  Pretty cool, huh?

So this is new and will likely take a few days to work out the bugs.  Be patient, but please give it a try.  If you have any questions let us know!

For example, this is what today will look like:

So, one of the reasons we have chosen today to talk about tracking is because we are officially announcing a new programming cycle that will run through the rest of October, November, and into December.  In fact, it's been running for a few weeks already.  The program will consist of increased testing and re-testing, benchmarks, and the use of previous scores in daily training.  More information coming soon, but just know one thing for now:  TRACK EVERYTHING!

Seriously, invest 2 minutes a day into this and you will be glad you did.

Great results are only great if you know you're actually getting them!

Wait, did someone say "great results"?!?  This weekend, several brave ladies took on a challenge for a Strongman Competition and cleaned up!  Aileen, Ann, Nancy, and almost Jacqui :-( threw down with aggression and represented CFLI in a big way.  I think there was another competitor from CFLI as well but I can't remember.

Oh, yeah, that's right, Danielle Rymer came home with one of the shiny golden pieces of medal around her neck.  I'm not really big into sports, but I think that represents 1st PLACE!

The ladies trained hard with private lessons with Erik for several weeks leading into the competition and it paid off.  Congratulations to Danielle and all the ladies who threw down!

This week's training:

Monday:  Front Sq (test), Hang Clean Biathalon (benchmark)

Tuesday: Ring Dips, T2B, Power Snatches

Wednesday: Endurance Test

Thursday: Pull-Ups (technique and testing), Strict press, Double Unders

Friday: Back Squats, Burpee Box Jumps, Running
