Brian has been a dedicated and passionate CrossFitter for over 6 years now, and is one of the most experienced coaches and CrossFit athletes on Long Island. As a person whose life has revolved around athletics since early childhood, CrossFit was a classic love-at-first-sight story. Brian dedicated his life to sports from pre-school right through college, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland. Brian competed in various sports including baseball, football, cross country, and others, but spent most of his life wrestling. His career consisted of 5 years as a starting varsity wrestler for Patchogue Medford High School, earning All-League honors twice in League 1, and Section XI All-County Honors as a senior. Brian went on to wrestle for Cortland State University.

Since beginning CF, Brian has regained his competitive edge and has begun competing for Smith Point in USLA Lifeguarding competitions. Since 2009 he has lead his 4x100m Beach Sprint Relay team to 5 straight national titles, never before done in USLA history. He has also claimed 4 straight individual national championships in Beach Flags, tying him for the most in USLA history.

His performance has earned him a spot as 1 of 6 Men in the United States to represent Team USA in international competition, including the 2010 and 2012 Sanyo Bussan International Lifesaving Cup in Japan. He earned 3 Silver Medals and a Gold Medal combined in Beach Flags and as the anchor of the 4x100m Relay team.

Brian also represented the United States in Australia for the 2012 Lifesaving World Championships. In his first World Championships he fought his way to the finals in both of his events, placing 7th in the 90m Beach Sprint and 8th in Beach Flags. Afterwards, Brian spent over a month in Australia training with one of the top Lifesaving Clubs in the world (Kurrawa Lifesaving) to prepare for 2014 Worlds in France.
In his most recent trip to Japan for the 2013 International Surf Rescue Challenge, Brian was named Captain of Team USA and lead his team to a solid 4th place finishes overall, while earning two Silver Medals himself.

In CrossFit related events, Brian has competed in various competitions, making his presence known in several local competitions each year. He was also Long Island runner up in the 2010 Empire State Games Olympic Weightlifting Qualifiers. Brian competed in the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games - Northeast Regional, finishing 13th out of an original 1100+ male competitiors. In 2012, Brian captained the CrossFit Long Island team to a 7th place finish in the region.

Although proud of his personal performances, Brian takes the most pride in his reputation as a coach and community leader. Since 2010, CFLI has grown from an unknown “underground” CrossFit gym to to the most renowned CrossFit coaching facility on Long Island, and was voted “Best Gym on Long Island” for 2013 by the Long Island Press, a selection that includes all Long Island gyms. He has also been fortunate enough to be named “Best Personal Trainer” on Long Island by the Long Island Press for 2012 and 2013.

His first priority is always keeping members over-satisfied, and is now beginning to train and develop the next wave of future coaches, affiliate owners, and fitness professionals on Long Island.
